Class Description:
We will use music to fuel and challenge our stamina and accuracy in timing. We’ll play with how the music can give an attitude, a feeling or a flow to each exercise and how quickly we can integrate that even when approaching new material. Speaking of flow, I like acknowledging that certain exercises will “feel better” than others. Some exercises may feel “sticky” and will take many repetitions to find that glorious “flow state” and others will be created to jump start us into that flow state and figure out the “moves” second. I think either outcome will have a fun pay off. I’ve been curious about the different ways we can bear weight on the edges of our feet, transfers of weight that are rooted in tap, house dance, and ballet, the various pathways of the shins, falling through diagonals/tipping points, etc! By the time I teach these interests may have shifted or morphed. My class structure consists of center and across the floor sequences to warm up and try out pathways and some sort of phrase to end the class.
