Class Description:
A Contemporary class taught by Idan Cohen. Cohen is an award winning Israeli choreographer and the artistic director of the Vancouver based ‘Ne. Sans’.
This class encourages versatility, technical and artistic ability influenced and based on Idan Cohen's unique and acclaimed method of artistic work.
The class offers contemporary technical warm up that focuses on virtuosity and strength, and aims to improve the dancer's physical abilities alertness and performance quality.
Idan Cohen, Choreographer and director
Originally from Israel, Idan Cohen is currently based in Vancouver, Canada. Growing up at a kibbutz in the north of Israel, Cohen was a prodigy classical pianist, educated in classical music and composition at a professional level. He danced with the world renown ‘Kibbutz contemporary dance company’ for 7 seasons, and established his own dance company in Tel aviv in 2006.
Since then he has been touring his work internationally, and won international recognition and awards. A well respected and loved Dance instructor, Cohen has taught at some of the world’s best dance companies, including ‘Kullberg Ballet’ (Sweden), ‘The Scottish dance theater’ (Dundee, Scotland), ‘Silesian Dance theater’ (Poland), ‘Arabesque’ dance company (Sofia, Bulgaria) and more, and is frequently invited as a guest professor at universities and conservatories world-wide.
He has taught at:
USA: UCLA - Los-Angeles, Portland State University, AU- Washington DC, ACDFA Boston, Amherst College, UMass, Smith College, Mount-Holyoke college, UC San Diego, UC Oklahoma city.
